SEDO or EDM refers to the external exchange of documents with partners.  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Standard workflow for an external document: creation \u2192 approval \u2192 signature\/timestamp \u2192 submission \u2192 archiving.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Which documents are converted to electronic format first:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>invoices and certificates of completion;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>expense invoices and freight bills.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Distinguishing between the internal and external workflows will help you choose the right tools to get started.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Legal Framework for Electronic Document Management: Signatures, Timestamps, and Approval of the Transition to Electronic Document Management<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An electronic document with a qualified electronic signature (QES) has the same legal force as the original paper document.
